About Handicap Doubles

Handicap Doubles events are a great way to level the playing field! The number of goals needed to win a match is determined by each team’s ranking. Higher ranked teams need to score more goals than lower ranked teams, leading to plenty of surprising results! Players of all levels and newcomers are welcome. To enter, simply register as a team. You will play plenty of foosball throughout the evening; 6 matches in the qualification phase. If you qualify in the top 8 teams you move through to the finals stage. Qualification matches are first to 7 points, and finals is first to 7 best out of 3 games.

The Handicap points system works as follows:

Master – 0 goal reduction. Pro – 1 goal reduction. Semi-Pro – 2 goal reduction. Amateur – 3 goal reduction. Beginner – 4 goal reduction.

The number of goals required is determined by the difference in Handicap. Examples:

  • A Master-ranked team versus an Amateur-ranked team will need to score 7 goals while the Amateur-ranked team will only need to score 4 goals.
  • A Pro-ranked team versus a Semi-Pro team will need to score 7 goals while the Semi-Pro team will only need to score 6 goals.

A team’s ranking is determined by the ranking of the highest-ranked player on the team. A player’s ranking is their official BFA (British Foosball Association) rating, which can be found here: https://britfoos.com/about/licences/
