The BFA would like to share closing remarks regarding London Masters III, following the discussions that have taken place within the community over the past days.
The BFA and London Table Football work closely together to help develop and grow the foosball scene across the UK. It is important to remember that at this stage, the sport in the UK is still heavily community-driven. We currently operate without any sponsorships and are not yet formally recognised as a sport, meaning that events and development rely significantly on volunteers, organisers and community support.
London Table Football has played a major role in growing the scene in London and the wider UK. In the last year alone, more than 500 new players registered on CORAL, reflecting the continued growth and interest in the sport.
Regarding the changes to formats during the final stages of the tournament, this situation was not something the organisers anticipated or wanted. Unexpected venue time restrictions required decisions to be made quickly under pressure and the organisers were equally disappointed with the outcome and the impact it had on players.
We also understand the discussions surrounding prize funds and payouts. At present, tournament costs, venue expenses, equipment transport, sanctioning fees and operational expenses place significant limitations on what can be offered financially, particularly in the absence of sponsorship support.
We continue working toward improving this long-term, but growth takes time.
We appreciate the passion, feedback, support and understanding shown by the community. Everyone involved is trying to do their best to help the sport continue moving forward in the UK.
Finally, thank you to the LTF team, volunteers and everyone involved in organising another major international event for the UK foosball calendar. Despite the challenges encountered at the end of the tournament, the overall atmosphere throughout the weekend remained positive, competitive and welcoming.
Congratulations to all participants and winners, and we hope to see everyone again soon.
βThe strongest communities grow through support, understanding and constructive dialogue.”
